Explore traditional villages
Naxos has some of the most amazing unspoiled villages, some of which are almost unknown to tourism. Start with the restored villages of Halki and Apiranthos, both gorgeous in their stone-built homes, greenery and small public squares. Continue exploring by car and head to more mountainous villages, often with one or two local restaurants or a café, to get a feel of how the locals live. One of these villages is Filoti, with its several cafés and restaurants, or the much smaller yet very charming Mili, with a single local café and only two dozen permanent inhabitants. The whole island is dotted with captivating hamlets that will fill you with wanderlust.
